摘要
中西方在历史背景、社会习俗、宗教文化、意识形态等方面的差异 ,为中国传统文化英译提出了许多值得商榷的问题。文化空缺现象就是其中的一个方面。我们常常碰到这样的情况 :反映中国传统文化特色的词语在英语中几乎无对应或相近的表达方式——文化空缺造成了词语空缺。为此 ,译者必须克服这种文化差异给翻译带来的制约 ,并根据不同的情况 ,采用灵活的方法处理中国传统文化英译中出现的问题 ,使译文尽可能达意。
It is no easy matter to reproduce Chinese traditional culture in English.
