Approach to the Application of the Theories of Literal Translation and Liberal Translation

翻译作为一门科学,自诞生之日起便充当着文化交流与传播的媒介。但翻译手段的多样性,使翻译具有很大的不稳定性。本文试图通过阐述"直译"与"意译"的功能及其在不同文体中的运用,进而分析两者之间相辅相成的辨证关系,从而论证两者综合运用的价值。

As a science, translation has been regarded as a medium for cultural exchange and cultural spread since it first came into being.However, the diversity of the translation approaches may lead to the ambiguity and uncertainty in translation.This paper tries to elaborate the functions of literal translation and liberal translation as well as their application in different genres, and then analyzes their interdependent dialectical relationship.Finally, it demonstrates the value of the integrated application of those two theories.
