Abstract:In order to carry out State’s policy towards nationalities,Nationality identification was a very important wrok after the establishment of the New China.Before 1950,the nationality identity was ambiguous and confusing,and the names for China’s nationalities eere as many as more than 400.After over 30years’working,the task for China’s nationality identification was almost finished by February of 1987,and fifty-six nationalities were officially recognized.
