The Development of Japanese Barrier-free Design

早在上世纪70年代初,日本就已经开始了对无障碍设计的研究。如今,日本的无障碍设计已经有了更加深厚的内涵与外延。日本无障碍设计的发展,对其他国家来说不失为一种借鉴的范例。

The concept of barrier-free design was first introduced in Japan in the early 1970s.Thus,the effort to promote barrier-free environments began with the ultimate goal of creating the 'City for All',where all people,regardless of age and disability,can live safely and comfortably.Approximately 30 years have elapsed since then and the same effort is now being undertaken under the principles of Universal Design.Time is ripe now to take affirmative steps to achieve the goal of accessibility for all.
