The Moral Dimension of Classic Republic Polis——On Republic Polis' Character of Aristotle

亚里士多德在探讨共和城邦时认为它是最适宜的 ,因为它最接近理想化的贵族城邦 ,又很有可能实现 ,但这样的城邦良性运转须有一个强大的中产阶级出现 ,因为这个阶级的特殊的道德性能保证共和城邦的稳定繁荣。这种古典时代的政体观念虽然和我们现代的政体有些类似但却是小同大异 。

Aristotle believed the republic polis was the best when he was working on the theory of polis. According to Aristotle, the public polis was the nearest to the ideal, and it was most possible the one which might come true. But for that polis it was necessary that there should be a powerful middle class, because the characteristics of middle class can offer a stable and flourishing guarantee. Comparing the polis of Aristotle, the idea of the similarity between the polis and modern states may astonish someone, but in fact, the difference is radical.
