In his three_part article, Xi talks about the change of political situation in East Asia and Eurasia, the structural development of the great_power relationship and the impact caused by the changing international politics. The author says the political change in 2000 mainly happened at the both ends of Eurasia where we saw the explicit progress of peace process on the Korean Peninsula and the clear confrontation between unification force and independence force in Taiwan on the one hand,and the new opportunity for the relaxation of situation in the Balkans on the other hand. As for the structural development of the greatpower relationship, the author maintains that the structure has become more consummate.①EU's Nice summit served as a milestone in EU's history with the establishment of a rapid reaction force of 60 thousand troops. ②The U.S. was going to make decision on NMD deployment which caused anxiety and disagreement with the EU side. ③Europe, Russia, China and Japan have enhanced cooperation at a new level, either bilateral or multilateral. The author says that the impact of the changing international politics could be felt at the both ends of Eurasia. In East Asia, the political deadlock and military confrontation formed over a long period of time might gradually be eroded. In Europe, the joint efforts made by EU and Russia in checking U.S. deployment of NMD would certainly postpone Bush administration's decision over that matter.
