For some English teachers, the Direct Method is not new. When the goal of insruction becomes learning how to use a foreign language to communicate, the Direct Method becomes popular. In this paper, I'll discuss the necessity and the importance of this method in English language teaching. By observing an English teacher using it in his class, I've concluded that the Direct Method should be applied with some teaching Principles and some proper exerciess. Only in this way can the Direct Method be carried out effectively.
