N_V Shift and Functional Metabolism

本文研究名词转用作动词(名动转用)的语法过程.名动转用涉及一个语义基础和两个过程.这两个过程是以功能代谢为特征的语法过程和以含意内化为特征的语义过程.就语法过程来说,第一步,要实现"王子-贫儿效应",即使名词外形动词化;第二步,要以语义功能对缺损的谓语动词语法功能作出补偿.本文以"词汇映射理论"为框架,分析了补偿的可行性和补偿机制的运作.

The process of conversion from a noun to a verb is called in this paper the N_V shift. This paper concentrates on the grammatical process in the shift. The N_V shift process involves a motivation (i.e. the semantic motivation for the shift) and two processes: the grammatical process and the semantic process. With regard to the fulfillment of the grammatical process, two steps have to be implemented:first, the bringing out of the “prince_and_pauper effect”,i.e. inflexionalizing the noun in the verb form, and second, the compensating for the missing grammatical function with the semantic function. The paper analyzes the plausibility of the compensation and the operation of the mechanism of the compensation within the framework of Lexical Mapping Theory.
