Brief Discussion on Chinese Cultural Spirit and Its Possibility of Reviving in the Present Age

This paper tries to investigate the nature of the spirit of Chinese culture and the possibility to renew Chinese culture in contemporary era. Contrary to the popular trend to simply imitate or learn form the Western, the author insists on the following positive positions for the Chinese culture. Firstly, the spirit of the Chinese culture is the “the spirit with sensitive life”. Secondly, the subjectivity of “common value of exchange” cannot be formed in the spirit of Chinese culture. Thirdly, the task of “enlightenment” can only be realized by Chinese themselves with its own characteristics. Fourthly, the essence of the possibility to revive Chinese culture lies in the constitution of “sensitive truth”. Lastly, “returning originality and open new world” will be the destination Chinese culture seeks from now on. Therefore, the basic topic for the revival of Chinese culture is to turn the power of capital into social right and obligation of the basis of sensitive individual moral.
