Based on the drafting background of the National Geography Standards, the paper aims at assessing the architecture and features of the Standards, including its essential subject matters, skills and perspechves. Attentions are paid to the important role that geography plays in the civic education. Meanwhile, the cultivation of geographical skills and the application of geographical experiences are expounded.
