On the Relation of Poet SU Shi to Alcohol Addiction

苏轼一生与酒结下了不解之缘。他所追求的“酒中趣”即意趣、情趣与理趣,不但使人格与酒格完美结合,创造出绝妙的境界,丰富了中国酒文化的内涵,同时也成为后世许多知识分子身处逆境时的重要精神支柱。

The author holds that the artistic career of the Song Dynasty poet Su Shi is irrevocably associated witn the drinking of alcoholic beverage, his pursuit of the ＂delights in spirit＂, namely, sensual delight, emotional delight and intellectual delight, has produced ultimate satisfaction for both his own poetical creation and China＇s alcohol beverage culture, and in so doing has set an example for later intelligentsia at times of predicament.
