This paper expounds some relative knowledge of GPS, and introduces the achievements obtained by China in the application of GPS technique such as the positioning of the drilling well of the oil exploration in the desert, the positioning of the central line and piers of the cross-see bridge, and the measuring of the altitude of the top of the Mount Qomolangma, etc., which plays the role that the traditional measuring methods can＇t replace.
