Terraced storage gully, formed by adding a terrace on the base of former storage gully with trapezoidal cross-section, on slopeland with afforestation and soil preparating projects for soil control, then seedlings is planted on the terrace. Taking this measure can greatly improve soil and fertilizer conditions and enhance survival rate and growth of seedlings. According to measurement of samplings in Chishui small watershed in Guangchang County t the survival rate of arbor seedlings planted in terraced storage gully was over 90%, far higher than that of arbor seedlings planted in storage gully with trapezoidal cross-section.
