Research on the Literary Resources of "Four Dreams of Linchuan"

“临川四梦”的文学渊源,在情感内涵上表现为对“魏晋风流”的继承,对于英雄豪杰、古今才子的多情的肯定,对人生中美的妙赏;在创作精神上表现为对唐人才情的倾慕,对元曲意趣神色的妙悟;在故事情节上表现为对魏晋志怪、唐人传奇、宋人话本、元人杂剧的有关内容的选择吸收,精心熔铸;在戏曲语言上表现为对唐诗、唐五代两宋词、元曲的融会贯通,点化出神。在多方面汲取的过程中,汤显祖都能做到以我为主,为我所用,从而创造出“临川四梦”独特的风格面貌。

The literary resources of 'Four Dreams of Linchuan' came from 'the romantic style in the Wei and Jin Dynasties' (魏晋风流) especially in the content of feelings. As the dramatist Tang Xianzu (汤显祖) was greatly sympathized with the romantic feelings of the heroes and talents from the ancient to the present as well as full appreciation of the previous excellent artistic creations in China, he could absorb and transform all this to became his own reservation in order to create the unique style of 'Four Dreams of Linchuan'.
