Piercing plug is one of the most important die tools in seamless steel pipe processing. This article introduces shape characteristic, preparation process and failure form of piercing plug domestically and internationally. The development of improving service life of piercing plug is reviewed through the aspects of shape of piercing plug, raw materials and surface oxidation.
