In 1950s, Gary Snyder translated and published twenty - four poems by HAN Shan which immediately made HAN Shan a household Chinese poet in America. Gary Snyder and HAN Shan have a lot in common in life style, poem - composing conception, artistic techniques as well as spiritual state. However, they two have subtle difference in outlook on life and hermit because of the differences of their ages and cultures.
