This article aims at studying the all-round influences of traditional Chinese culture on the modern American poet Gary Snyder. GarySnyder develops his unique poetic style under the inspiration of Confucianism, Taoism, Zen, Chinese mountains and rivers painting, especially Chinese classical poetry. Snyder is deeply in love with Han Shan＇s and Wang Wei＇s poetry, which eulogize nature with a strong flavor of Zenism. His translation of Cold Mountains Poems and his Han Shan＇s lifestyle make him American Han Shan.
