In China, the development of landscape design in residential communities has experienced its own course： from simple idea to composite thought; from focusing on ornamental purpose to ecological viewpoint and living standpoint. The landscape architecture for residential areas has its specific content, task and feature. The trend of landscape design of residential community will be to create a living space by using substances, respecting the resident＇s living rights, and comprehending the resident＇s behavioral freedom. Furthermore,a healthy and active life, and multilevel environments with diverse living styles are supported.
