摘要
论述了中国图书馆发展进程中三次较大的跨文化交流。
Transcultural exchange is a motive power of culture development of mankind, as well as one of the agents for the Chinese library cause to move from closed type to modernized one. In the course of the Chinese library development , there have been several large cultural exchanges: the first one happened in the 60 years after the Opium War (1840), a period from libliothecas to libraries. The second one took place in the 30 years from May 4th New Culture movement period (1918) to the foundation of the People′s Republic of China (1949), a startup period of introducing the theory and method of western libraries. The third exchange came about in the 15 years from 1949 to the early 1960s, a period of investigating and learning from the Soviet librarianship. The fourth one occurred in the 15 years after the reform and open up since the end of 1970s, a period of library development and change. The transcultural exchange history of over one hundred years shows that correct understanding and grasping the joint point of culture exchange is a core problem of modernization of our libraries. At present, the modernization of Chinese libraries is facing another challenge of western material civilization, especially the challenge of global information highway. However, the modernization of libraries does not only mean advanced technology, what is more important is modern spirits. Specifically, the challenge consists of three aspects: a cultural accumulation reaching to a modern level, an information transport system connected with the world and an open mind.
