摘要
本文基于功能语法中的人际功能和评价系统理论,对30篇报忧类商务英语信函进行了分类和研究,旨在揭示这类信函实现人际意义的语言手段。文章分别从词汇层面、句法层面和语篇层面进行了深入的分析,发现报忧类商务英语信函呈现出特定的语言和语篇特点。最后文章从语域理论的话语基调角度分析了其存在的理据。
Based on the interpersonal metafunction and appraisal systems within the framework of Systemic Functional Grammar, this paper makes a study of 30 English business letters communicating bad news, in order to reveal the linguistic devices realizing the interpersonal meaning. Through the analysis of those letters from the lexical, syntactic and discourse levels, the paper shows that they are characterized by distinctive linguistic features. Finally, the paper justifies the use of those linguistic devices, using tenor of discourse within the register theory.
