Beijing Reforms in Late Qing from the View of Western Correspondents——On the Bases of the Reports of the Times

本文通过探讨20世纪初英国伦敦《泰晤士报》对于清末北京"新政"的报道,展示北京在"新政"时期社会层面的变革,以及清廷在政治、经济、文化教育、工商等诸多方面实施改革后的外在体现,这对于今人理解北京"新政"改革史具有一定的意义和价值。

The paper states Beijing reforms in late Qing on the bases of the reports of the Times, and suggests that all of those reforms were external reflections of the countermeasures in politics, economy, culture, education, industry and commerce of Qing court. The reports are important for understanding the reform history of Beijing in late Qing dynasty today.
