The effects of intermittent warming during cold storage of mango fruits on chilling injury and physiological and biocchemical responses were studied. The results indicated that intermittent warming delayed the chilling induced increase of both ethylene production and respiration rate of mango fruits stored at 2℃, delayed the increase of polyamines level of pericarp, maintained these polyamines at high level in later stage, maintained SOD activity of pericarp at higher level, retarded the increase of membrane permeability and increased the ability of mango fruits to withstand chilling injury. But intermittent warming promoted the ethylene production and respiration rate of mango fruits stored at 10℃ and the peak of ethylene production and respiration rate occurred earlier and higher,so it resulted in lower SOD activity of pericarp and accelerated the ripening and senescence of mango fruits.
