The New Comments on the Social Function Standards of Translation

单一绝对的翻译标准和翻译标准的虚无化是两种错误的认识,它既是对翻译本质的一种误解,同时也会对翻译事业的发展产生不利的影响。随着对翻译社会性本质认识的逐渐加深,提出翻译的社会功能标准,是对原有翻译标准的补充和修正。这有助于阐释以前诸多难以解释的翻译问题和翻译现象,还为开展翻译批评、净化译坛提供有力的武器。

Two kinds of wrong understanding--sole absolute translation standard and standard nihility, are regarded as one kind of misunderstanding about the translation essence, and simultaneously also have the disadvantageous influence on the translation enterprise＇s development. Along with gradual deepening under- standing of the translation social essence, then proposal of the social function standard of translation is the sup- plement and the revision of the original translation standard. This was not only helpful to the explanation many difficulty translation questions and translation phenomena before, but also provided powerful weapons for the translation criticism and the purification of the translation world.
