Disease's Flower: on Illness' cultural connotation in the Western Literature

西方文学中疾病的文化内涵主要表现为三个方面:首先,是神与人的二元对立;其次,是灵与肉的冲突;最后,是身体政治的隐喻。同时,疾病的隐喻也启示我们:人类与外界及自身的危机关系在逐步加剧。通过疾病的文化内涵的演变,人类要反思的,是人本身。

In the western literature, illness＇ cultural connotation embodies mainly in three aspects： First, the dual opposition between the God and human being; Second, the conflict between the soul of human being and the body of human being; Third, the metaphor of body politic. Meanwhile, the metaphor of illness enlightens us： the relation between humanity, the outside world and its own crisis are intensifying gradually. With the evolution of the cultural connotation of illness, what human being should reconsider is itself.
