論周初的鄂國

A Study on E State in Early Western Zhou Dynasty

西周曾有姑姓鄂国，於厉王时被王师攻滅，是熟悉金文研究的学者都知道的。最近出现的一件鄂侯鼎，进一步证明周初已有鄂侯存在。从鄂国青铜器的出土地点，以及昭王南征时金文地名的考证，可以推定鄂国确在江汉会合处的今湖北鄂城一带。

As is known to all the researchers on bronze inscriptions,there used to be E(鄂)state whose surname was Ji in the Western Zhou Dynasty,but it collapsed under attack from the imperial armies during the reign of King Li.The newly discovered ding-tripod made for Marquise E(鄂侯鼎)further proves the existence of E state during the period of the early Western Zhou.This article,from explorations of the sites where the bronze ware of E state were unearthed and the place names in the bronze inscriptions involving King Zhao’s southern campaign,concludes that E state was probably located near today’s E’cheng of Hubei province,the junction of Jiang River and Han River.
