古代建安版画家在中国版画史上留下光辉灿烂的一页,但由于他们的版刻生涯流寓不定加上史载不详,其籍贯在后世往往众说纷纭,说法不一。建阳出身的版刻大师刘素明等人常常被划武林、金陵等地和徽州木刻家的名下,在学术界造成了很多混乱。

Ancient Jian＇an woodcut left a brilliant page in the history of the Chinese woodcut, but people differ on the birthplace of those woodcutters as there are no specific records about them and their life. Liu Suming, one of the masters of woodcut in Jianyang city of Fujian province, was rumored to be born in Wulin, Jinling or Weizhou, which caused great confusion in the academic circle.
