We are now more than half way through the year, and we hope at least half way through the economic downturn. The country hit 7.9% GDP growth in the second quarter of the year, putting it well on track to hit the government＇s 8% GDP growth target. While consumption is picking up from its low during the downturn, it still remains to be seen whether China will be successful at shifting from an export-driven economy ----especially with exports dropping 21.8% in the first half of the year -- to one propelled by domestic consumption.
