English idiom is an important component part of English language and English culture. A proper translation of English idiom is necessary for an effective intercultural communication. The paper analyses the relationship between cultural and idiom translation, reveals the cultural traits contained in English idioms. Based on Nida＇s principle of meaning priority, the paper also examined the methods applied to the translation of English idioms.
