The species, designation, excellent characteristic and synthesis of tri-axial swellable profile modification ＆ water shut-off agents were briefly introduced. Their research statuses which include patents, researching in room and evaluation methods were mainly introduced. Some examples were given to introduce their application effect in domestic oilfields. The shortage and development trend were pointed out.
