The paper summarized the main achievements of the Chinese freshwater aquaculture technology in the 21 st century and systematically elaborated the great roles played by the freshwater aquaculture technique on the development of the Chinese freshwater aquaculture. The main problems of the freshwater aquaeuhure technology were analyzed and the countermeasures were offered such as enhancing the basic fishery research, strengthening the government macro-management and increasing the invested funds, striving to develop the fishery education and improving the expertise of the fishery labors, stepping up fishery science and technology extension efforts, and reinforcing the research on processing and preservation technology of aquatic products. The paper attempts to provide a valuable references to the development of the healthy freshwater aquaculture of the 21st Century .
