The study of mining subsidence has great important theoretical and practical significance to the rational development and utilization of underground resources. This paper sorts out the historical development of mining subsidence in details, and gives a brief introduction into some prediction methods which are commonly used and their application conditions of surface subsidence, and also provides a prospect into the development trend of the mining subsidence prediction research and application.
