摘要
《圣经》是开启西方文化的钥匙。新修订的《高等学校英语专业英语教学大纲》附录I列出了英语专业知识课程中的社会文化课程,其中第(f)项是《圣经》。从《圣经》对英语词汇学习、英美文学阅读和跨文化交际能力培养三个方面,论述了系统地学习了解《圣经》对于专业英语教学的重要性。
The Bible is one of the most popular and most influential books in the West. It is the key to the western culture. A deep understanding of the western culture means a deep knowledge of the Bible. To the English majors, the Bible can help master the language of English, appreciate British and American literature, and improve the ability of intercultural communication. But nowadays, the course on the Bible is very rarely offered at Chinese universities. The paper is to explain the necessity of knowing about the Bible for the English majors.
