High-yield seed production techniques for Meiyou 998: A good quality late indica rice hybrid combination

美优998是广西农业科学院水稻研究所利用自选野败型不育系美A与优质恢复系广恢998组配育成的弱感光型优质高产杂交晚籼组合,具有米质优、产量高、抗逆性强等特点,2005年通过广西农作物品种审定委员会审定。其在海南高产制种技术:选择相对避风、水源充足的泥田或沙质较轻的泥沙壤田作制种田;依据父母本播始历期合理安排播期;加强田间管理,培育高产群体结构;适时喷施"九二○",提高异交结实率;严格除杂保纯,适时收割。

Meiyou 998 is a new weak photosensitive indica rice hybrid combination which was crossed between wild abortion type sterile line Mei A and good quality restoring line Guanghui 998 by Rice Research Institute of Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences. It has characteristics of good grain quality, high-yield, strong stress resistance, etc. Meiyou 998 was authorized for Guangxi Committee for Crop Variety Registration in 2005. The techniques for high-yield production includes： muddy field or light weight sediment loam with adequate riverhead as the farmland, reasonably planned seeding date （estimated according to the days from seeding to panicle initiation stage of parents）, proper field man- agement, cultivation of population structure of high yield, spray of gibberellic acid timely to increase the seed setting rate of outeross, properly removing different seeds and timely harvesting.
