探求词语或词语的某义项最早出现时代,是历史词汇学的一项重要工作。"弊恶"、"臂钏"等词、"开拓"、"壮年"等词的某些义项,早期汉译佛经中已屡见用例;"晨朝"、"迁变"等还同时见于南北朝时的中土文献。这些词语《汉语大词典》引例均嫌晚,探讨这些词语的较早用例,可以为中古汉语词汇史研究提供素材。

It is an important historical work for historical lexics to explore the meaning of a word or phrase in the earliest era.Some connotations and denotations of such words as ＂Disadvantages of evil＂,＂armlet＂,＂development＂ and ＂prime＂ frequently appeared in the early Buddhist sutra.＂To have an audience with the emperor in the morning＂ and ＂vicissitude＂ were also found in the literature of the Northern and Southern Dynasties.The examples of these words and expressions cited by the ＂Chinese Dictionary＂ seemed too late.
