随着地理信息系统和计算机网络技术的发展,整个社会的信息化工程日益突显,特别是作为国民经济和社会发展关键环节的城市信息化更是成为了一项战略工作,城市信息化建设日益为各国、各城市所关注。而在整个城市信息化进程中,涉及到一项重要空间技术的应用——GIS技术在数字城市中的应用。基础地理信息系统的使用正深入到各个专业应用领域,如土地管理、电力、电信、城市管网、水利、消防、交通以及城市规划等,对推动城市的信息化建设具有十分重要的意义。

With the development of GIS（geographic information systems） and computer network technology,the informationization project of whole society becomes obvious day by day,city informationization which especially as a key part of economic and social development is becoming a strategic work,it has been paid attention increasingly by various countries and cities.GIS technology in digital city applications is an important spatial technology application in city informationization process.The basic geographic information system is being used deeply in various specialized applications fields,such as land management,electricity,telecommunications,city pipe network,water conservancy,fire protection,transportation and urban planning etc.It has great significance to promote informationization construction of city.
