摘要
我国内地高校出现了一个压缩大学英语学分的现象,而香港的高校恰恰相反,随着学制从原来三年延长到四年,他们的大学英语学分从原来平均6学分增加到9学分。文章认为内地高校大学英语学分的压缩是非理性的,并不是学生的英语水平达到一个不需要继续学习英语的程度,而是大学英语教学目标不明确造成的。因此给大学英语教学目标重新定位已刻不容缓。
Mainland universities and colleges are experiencing a period of reducing compulsory credits for college English,while the credits for EAP courses of universities in Hong Kong will be increased when the new curriculum is implemented.The contrastive studies lead to the conclusion that the reduction of credits of college English in the mainland universities is irrational as it lies not so much with the claimed adequate English proficiency of the mainland freshmen as with the vague objective of college English teaching.Hence it is imperative to reorient the objective of the college English curriculum.
