Cang Ji's Invention of Charactors and Worship Culture of Chinese Characters

仓颉造字的传说影响很大,在一定程度上形成了仓颉崇拜。从文字学视角看,汉代许慎的说法较为理性,他认为汉字是一定历史发展阶段的产物,这接近于文字产生发展的实际。从文化学视角看,仓颉造字说的文化势力在于它以神话传说的形式感召了后代世人的心灵,从而形成根深蒂固、旷世不渝的汉字崇拜情结。

Owing to its enormous influence,the legend of Cang Ji＇s invention of characters resulted in Cang Ji worship to a certain degree.However,in terms of philology,Xu Shen in the Han Dynasty＇s view was more rational.Xu thought that Chinese characters came into being in a certain period of historical development,which sounded more closer to the practice of the rise and growth of ideographs.In contrast,from the perspective of culture,the cultural influence of the legend of Cang Ji＇s invention of characters moved and inspired later generations of the Chinese in form of mythical legend,hence forming deep-rooted and consistent worship of Chinese characters.
