Current Situation and Thinking of Urban Rail Transit in China

This paper describes the current situation of Chinese urban rail transit and uses the cities of Shanghai, Wuhan and Chongqing as examples to analyze the process of evolution and urban rail transit planning in China. The analysis confirms that the plans of urban rail transit will be readjusted following the development of traffic demand in the future. Then it points out the problems in the course of rail transport operating, planning and constructing. At last, we provide some managerial insights.
