This paper analyzes the reasons for the existence of traditional library from four aspects： the origin of library, social function, subject and scientific features, substantial qualities and cultural influence. The paper highlights the importance and bright prospects of traditional library with the study on its history, academic orientation, cultural peculiarity and social function.
