What is Philosophy?

就哲学是在有无之间的摆渡而言,哲学是科学,因为它涉及"有",同时哲学又不仅仅是科学,因为它还关乎"无";就哲学是追寻本原的一种努力而言,哲学既是一种返回自身的返乡之旅,也是一种成就自身的未来之旅,因此,哲学在根本上乃是一种为己之学与成己之学;就我们只有回到本原才能回到自由身而言,哲学是还给我们自由的一种解放事业;而就真正的自身乃是自由身来说,哲学的使命就在于成就自由与守护自由。

In terms of its swing between presence and absence, philosophy belongs to science since it is about ＂pres- ence＂ but at the same time it goes beyond science because it is also about ＂absence＂. In terms of its endeavor to seek the origin, philosophy is not only a return trip to itself but a future trip to self-achievement so fundamentally philosophy is a subject for self and self-achievement. In terms of our return to freedom only when we return to the origin, philosophy is an emancipation endeavor which gives back freedom to us while in terms of the belief that real self is a free self, as a subject for self-achievement, the task of philosophy is to accomplish freedom and protect freedom.
