VRML for use in 3D Molecular Models on the WWW

介绍了虚拟现实模型语言 (VRML ,VirtualRealityModelingLanguage)及其在全球信息网 (WWW ,WorldWideWeb)上分子模型中的应用 ,并介绍了我们开发的把表征分子三维结构的MOL2或ML2格式文件转换为 4种显示模式 (线型、棍型、球棍型和空间充满型 )VRML格式文件的软件。最后 ,给出了一个应用实例。结果表明 ,VRML适合于WWW上分子模型的传输和显示。

VRML and its applications to molecular models on the WWW are described. A software which can convert molecular MOL2 or ML2 format file to VRML format files in four different styles, including wireframe, capped sticks, ball and stick, and a CPK space filling model, has been developed. The utility of the software is illustrated by an example which converts molecular ML2 format file to VRML format files. It is shown that the usage of VRML is a very efficient and powerful method for the transport of molecular models on the WWW.
