In the year 2004, archaeologists excavated a tomb of the state of Chu from the middle to late Spring and Autumn period in Libamiao, Nanyang City. It was a small-scale rectangular vertical-pit tomb. There were some bronze objects unearthed, including 20 weapons and 7 ritual bronzes of various types, including Ding, Yan, Yi, and so on. In the inscription on the Ding M1 ∶ 1, its owner called himself 'Fan Zi'. Archaeologists suggest that 'Fan Zi' was not the occupant of the tomb, but the king of the Fan state. The occupant may have been a noble of Chu. This Ding may have been a present from the king of Fan, or the spoils of war. Discovery of the Fan Zi Ding provides important material for the study of the history and geographical position of the ancient Fan state.
