"Correcting the left"after the 9.13 Incident

"九一三事件"为纠正"文革"左倾错误提供了契机,毛泽东在批林中开始更正"文革"的一些极左做法。一场由周恩来所领导的纠左工作随之展开,并在解放老干部、整顿国民经济和推动科教界纠左等方面取得一定进展,但此举很快受到江青等人的反击。此时毛泽东既要纠正文革中的某些极左做法,又不愿从根本上否定"文革"。这种矛盾心态最终导致"九一三事件"后纠左工作被迫中止。

After the 9.13 Incident,Mao Zedong appeared to object the leftist in the Great Cultural Revolution,and Zhou Enlai tried to correct their practices.However,this at temptation was soon attacked by Jiang Qing and her colleagues.It was mainly because of Mao Zedong＇s complex contradictory mentality.On one hand,Mao believed some ultra-leftist practices should be rectified;on the other hand,he did not wish to deny it fundamentally.And this ambivalence led to the correcting work halted eventually.
