特性与共性──论中国翻译学与翻译学的关系

Chinese Translatology and its Specific Characteristics

不少学者认为西方译论不适合中国，因此呼吁在中国译学传统的基础上建立“中国翻译学”，但是西方许多较新的译论在中国还没有人验证过这种提法，既忽视世界翻译学各个分支的共性，又忽视中国翻译学各个分支的特性，是大汉民族主义的产物。其实纯翻译学是应用翻译学的基础，中国既然只有后者而没有前者，就首先必须从西方引进作为研究中国翻译现象的框架，然后验证改良这些西方译论从而参与世界翻译学的建设。

There have been calls to establish 'Chinese Translation studies' based on traditional Chinese translation theories, while Western ones are rejected without being tested. 'Translation theories' here means applied theories instead of pure theories, which should be non-language-specific. The emphasis on a nation-restricted translation studies is in fact a product of national prejudice. China, without any pure translation theories of her own, must borrow them from abroad to provide a framework for the study of Chinese translational phenomena and then improve on them, so as to participate in the development of international translation studies.
