重审中国古典诗歌的翻译

The Translation of Chinese Classical Poetry Revisited

中国古典诗歌的语际翻译总是不得不面对英汉语言的不可通约性这一尴尬,同时还得面临先此的语内翻译中语言转换的内在掣肘,这后一点常为学界所忽略。本文从古代汉语、现代汉语和现代英语语言的联系与对比出发,以语内翻译观照语际翻译,探讨这一尴尬的成因,并反思中国古典诗歌翻译的可能性。

The translation of classical Chinese poetry into English has always had to cope with the lack of commonality between English and Chinese and the inherited limitations in its previous intralingual translation,the latter of which is usually neglected by academic research.The present paper aims to examine the interrelations through a contrastive study of classical Chinese,modern Chinese and English,approaching its interlingual translation by way of intralingual translation,offer some insights into such a predicament,and rethink the possibility of translating the Chinese poetry.
