The sea salt particle (SSP) induced by wave breaking is the main mechanism transferring the inorganic salt from ocean to atmosphere. It is believed that the inorganic salt flux at the air-sea interface plays an important role in global climate change. In the present paper, the laboratory experiments for simulating the SSP production process are carried out, in order to investigate quantitatively the effect of temperature and salinity of sea water on the mass fractions of ions in SSP. It is indicated that the enrich- ment or fractionation of the ions in the nascent SSP is much closely related to temperature and salinity of sea water. On the basis of the experimental results and some assumptions, a parameterization of air-sea inorganic salt flux has been proposed, in which both wind speed, and sea surface temperature and sea sur- face salinity are included. The proposed parameterization is applied to estimate the air-sea mass flux of va- rious ions transferred by SSP, in comparison with the traditional estimation.
