摘要
本文通过实验研究了中国学生英语中介语中主语的使用情况。其中单纯的名词和代词不同于形式主语、动名词、动词不定式和由that引导的小句主语,前者是参数设置的问题,涉及到英语主语突显和汉语主题突显的区分;后者受到子集原则的制约,形成了主语标记性等级。四个标记性英语主语项的使用频率顺序为:形式主语>动名词>动词不定式>小句主语。学生受到子集原则影响,使得中介语发展缓慢,甚至石化。
This paper investigates the use of subjects by the Chinese learners in their interlanguage, among which, nouns and pronouns as subjects are different from other four kinds of English subjects, that is, dummy subjects, gerund, infinitive and elausal subject introduced by "that". The former concerns parameter setting and has something to do with the difference be- tween subject prominence and topic prominence; while the latter involves constraints of subset principle, leading to subject markedness hierarchy. We have found out accuracy sequence of the four items, that is, dummy subjects 〉 gerund 〉 infinitive 〉 clausal snbject. Chinese students are slow in developing their interlanguage and even come to fossilization, mainly due to the influence of subset principle.
