Active ingredients of 14 kinds of Chinese herbal medicine were extracted using decoc- tion method, and their inhibitory effects on four enterogenic probiotics strains and one entero- hemorrhage E. coli (EHEC) strain were tested with disc diffusion method, respectively. The results showed that Ligusticum wallichii Franch, Scutellaria baicalensis Georl, Isatidis Ra- dix, Rheum officinale Baill and Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch had high antibacterial effects on the four enterogenic probiotics strains, and the bacteriostatic diameter was 22 ram; Pwraria lobata (Willd) Ohwi, Pericarpium Cirri Reticulatae , Andrographis paniculata (Burm. f. ) Ness and Atractylodes chinensis (DC.) Koidz. had lower antibacterial abilities, the bacterio- static diameter was 11 ram,and the others had no antibacterial ability; Scutellaria baicalensis Georgl, Astragalus membranaceus (Fisch.) Bunge, Acorus gramineus Soland and Pericarpium Cirri Reticulatee , Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch. Atractylodes chinensis(DC. )Koidz had antibacterial effects on EHEC strain, the bacteriostatic diameter was 10-- 24 mm, Scutellaria baicalensis Georgl had the biggest significant effect of inhibition on EHEC. MIC of Astragalus membrana- ceus(Fish. )Bunge to EHEC were 0. 625 g/mL , less than the four kinds of probiotics,Ligusti- cure wallichii Franch, Pueraria lobata (Willd.)Ohwi, Paeonia suf fruticosa Andr, Isatidis Radix L. , Anemarrhena asphodeloides Bunge, Andrographis paniculata (Burm. f. ) Nees, Rheum officinale Baill and Poria cocos(Schw. ) Wolf had no inhibition on EHEC strain.
