Discussion on EPON (Ethernet Passive Optical Network) Technology and Its Application

This paper expounds the working principle and system architecture of EPON, and introduces the application of EPON including FTTB（Fiber To The Building）, FTTH （Fiber To The Home）and FTTO（Fiber To The Office）, and points out that among the three modes （FTTH, FTTB and FTTO）the most used one is FTTB and the developing trend is FTTH that is more and more popular with the customers and operators because of its wide band width, great capacity, high security, strong stability, and low failure rate.
