A yeast immobilized by PVA, was employed for the sensitive material BOD sensor. The sensor has high response, wide measurement range, good stability and specificity. By using the sensor, a linear range was obtained up to 200mg/L BOD, its linear coefficient correlation is more than 0.99, and the response time is in 15min. The output of the sensor is constant for over 1 month, and it was well interrelated to what determined by using conventional BOD 5 analysis method.
